The longtime Italian restaurant will soon be a new bar and grill spot.

An up-and-coming bar and restaurant called Gjoni’s is opening at 662 W Grand River Avenue in Okemos later this year. Right now, the business is hiring for positions including servers. When contacted, owner Bledar Gjidoda did not have an opening date as he is working on a separate project at the moment.

The business is right now listed as coming soon on their website. Pronounced “Johnny’s,” it will serve typical bar and restaurant items, like pizza, steak, fish, burgers, sandwiches, soup and fish. Appetizer options will also be available.

The address is on the east side of the city, in a more quiet part of Okemos. It is near residential units and a dentist office. Gjonis will occupy the space after Spagnuolo’s served the area for 34 years.

Gjidoda is also the registered owner of Dan’s Coney Island at 5600 S Pennsylvania Avenue in Lansing. This is the second project he is working on, and there are no plans to add an additional location at this point.

Visit gjoni’s.com for more information on the bar and restaurant.
