Poke bowls with fresh ingredients are on the way to the city’s south side.

From their social media, Poke Toki has announced their newest location is coming to the Crystal Springs neighborhood at 6630 Kalamazoo Avenue SE, Suite A. This will have the same menu items, and owner John Chang is hoping to open the spot on April 1. Right now, construction is happening to prepare for the debut.

Poki Toki has multiple locations in Grand Rapids at 5150 Northland Drive NE, 146 Monroe Center Street NW #160 and 4750 Cascade Road SE, Suite A. The first location opened in 2018 on Northland Drive, bringing a casual Asian concept to the north side of the city. Their Monroe Center Street was their most recent opening in 2024, a busy location right across from the popular Rosa Parks Circle.

“Our vision is to establish POKE TOKI as the freshest, fastest and healthiest POKE establishment in Michigan and beyond,” says the description on their website.

Those visiting Poki Toki have the options of junior, mini, regular and large bowls. A popular bowl is the ahi tuna bowl with sushi rice, shredded egg, scallions, greens and edamame topped with their signature sauce. The pre-set bowls are not the only options as those ordering can choose their own base, mix-ins, protein, sauce and toppings.

The fast-casual concept is opening up near the intersection of Edgeknoll Drive SE, joining chains like Jersey Mike’s Subs, Pizza Hut and Wendy’s. The Red Geranium Cafe breakfast restaurant is also on this side of the road.

Change said he and the team just recently found the location last fall, and once they finalize fees to be paid they will prepare to open. More information on the Crystal Springs opening date and the menu can be found on their website.
