Joe Vicari Restaurant Group is in the process of creating new concepts in the city.

It was recently reported by Crain’s Detroit Business that The Statler Bistro and Market at 313 Park Avenue is closed and will not be reopening. Following the closure, the group is looking to bring new life to the area by opening two new restaurants. The unnamed locations are expected to open in the fall of this year.

The Statler opened in 2021 and quickly became a destination for French fine dining downtown. It offered main plates like steak frites and short ribs, soups, salads, and seafood like oysters and shrimp cocktail. One of the main reasons the location had to shut down was Le Supreme which opened at 1265 Washington Boulevard “cutting into profits.”

“The Statler will be temporarily closed as we reimagine and redesign the space to create a fresh new experience for our guests,” says the message on The Statler’s website.

When speaking on the phone with co-owner of the restaurant group Rosalie Vicari, she told What Now Detroit they have not decided on the new concepts, but the group is looking to move properties out of the General Motors Renaissance Center and get new locations in the city. Of their restaurants at the building, there is a Joe Muer Seafood location at 400 Renaissance Center #1404.

According to the article from Crain’s, the Statler space will be reopened as a new concept. Joe Vicari said the company is also considering opening another Detroit Cowboy location.

“We’re definitely staying in the city because we love the city of Detroit,” Vicari said.
