Johnny Black’s Public House owners, Deni Bozinovski and Matt Moore aim to open a new concept restaurant on 34275 Utica Road, come late 2023. The pair has coined the name Juan Blanco’s.
What Now Detroit spoke with Moore on Thursday about the new restaurant concept coming to Fraser. He shared that the idea is based on a family that has been working for Johnny Black’s for years, “We wanted to showcase their family recipes and authentic Mexican food,” Moore said in a phone call.
The new spot will be open from 11 a.m. to 12 a.m. Monday through Friday. The goal is to have an outdoor tequila and mezcal bar, with a dining area for patrons. The main indoor dining space will include a 30-seat tequila bar. There will be a wide selection of Mezcal and Tequila options at each bar. A large margarita menu will also be featured at Juan Blanco’s.
In terms of food items, Juan Blanco’s will offer classic street tacos, plates of steaming fajitas, and eventually a Latin-style brunch once the restaurant is more established. Moore shared more about the menu with What Now Detroit, “We will be serving a signature dish that has been a hit at Johnny Black’s, our elote chicken wings.” The wings have all the classic elote fixings, according to Moore.
The signage outside of the new joint will have phrases like, “For emergency call 9-Juan-Juan”, and “Soup of the day, Tequila”. Moore ended the call with What Now stating, “We like to keep a fun and family dynamic. Our employees keep our restaurants running.”
Bozinovski and Moore own twelve Johnny Black’s locations. Deni Bozinovski was unavailable for comments when contacted by What Now Detroit on Wednesday.
