The team behind La Ventana Cafe near downtown is bringing a new coffee shop

Little Village Detroit’s official Instagram posted in March that a new shop called Cafe Franco is coming to the LANTERN art gallery at 9301 Kerchval Avenue. It is being opened by La Ventana owners Katherine and Juan Perez.

Katherine told What Now Detroit they are about 12 weeks out from opening. There is no word on the menu yet, but it will be inspired by some of the brews at the current La Ventana shop. This would be Katherine and Juan’s second business.

La Ventana at 1492 Gratiot Avenue opened in 2023 in the Eastern Market area. It has grown to be a staple location in the neighborhood, with local coffee from Intelligentsia Coffee & Tea Inc and pastries from local businesses.

At the LANTERN art gallery, there is also Collect Beer Bar. It is a mixed-use building for artists and professionals to connect, and Cafe Franco will be the newest addition.

Little Village posted renderings of the new space, and it will have bar stools, tables, and a general sitting area with one large bench. There is no official information on the Cafe Franco Instagram page, but that will be updated in the coming weeks.
