A local coffee shop and Latin street food eatery is bringing a café to a new grocery store in southeast Michigan.
The walk-up location of Honcho, called Honcho A-Go-Go, will be located at Independence Market, an upcoming 50,000-square-foot neighborhood market that retail chain Meijer is bringing to Clarkston. The store will feature local and national brands, offering groceries like produce, meat and bakery items, as well as pet supplies and health and beauty products.
Shoppers will be able to enjoy bites and beverages from the on-site café featuring offerings from Honcho. The market is expected to include a seating area and outdoor patio.
Honcho comes from Union Joints, a restaurant group whose portfolio includes other Michigan restaurants like Clarkston Union Bar & Kitchen, Vinsetta Garage, Bunkhouse Burgers, and more. Union Joints began in 1995
The flagship location of Honcho can currently found in the Village of Clarkston at 3 E Church Street, about two miles west of the upcoming café at Independence Market. The menu includes tacos in varieties like chicken tinga, Korean pork, pollo asado, and more, as well as burritos, rice bowls and appetizers like sweet pea guacamole. A signature Union Joints item, the Union Mac & Cheese, is on the menu too.
The restaurant is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The coffeehouse is open 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, 8 a.m. to 10 pm. Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 9.m. Sunday.
Honcho A-Go-Go, set to open at Independence Market later this spring, will feature coffee beverages and baked goods from the Union Joints pastry team, as well as Honcho favorites like burritos, rice bowls and tacos, including the fan-favorite “Walking Taco.”
