A Canada-based hospitality company is bringing a Middle Eastern restaurant to metro Detroit.
GUL GUL Lebanese & Turkish Cuisine is set to open at 33355 Van Dyke Avenue in Sterling Heights. This is an Ontario-based restaurant chain with another location in Vaughan, Ontario. It is taking the place of Alie’s Lebanese Grill.
“From the streets of Beirut to the heart of Istanbul–GUL GUL is bringing the true taste of Lebanon and Turkey to Michigan,” said a recent Instagram post.
The menu has breakfast and dinner options, with coffees, milkshakes and mocktail beverages. As the business specializes in Turkish cuisine, shawarma plates and beef doner are on the menu. For breakfast, their GUL GUL Arabic breakfast offers honey with cream, lebneh, jam, eggs, fruit, tomato, cheese and falafel.
GUL GUL is owned by Allure Hospitality from Oakville, Ontario. Names from the company include Hawa Beirut, Hashag Gardens, Agha Cuisine, Majestic Shawarma and Eat Meat Smoke House.Chairman of Allure Hospitality Ahmed Dagher told What Now Detroit this will be a corporate-owned location.
The company is in the early stages of opening the restaurant right now as it is set to open by the end of the year. In May, the business was filed in the Michigan Business Registry. This marks the company’s first venture in the Michigan area.
