Sportsmen’s Den, lovingly referred to as The Den by locals, has served the Downriver community of Riverview for more than four decades,. This week, Joe Orlando, who founded the business back in 1979 has sold The Den to local restauranteur and entrepreneur Jeremy Syrocki, according to an article published by Detroit Free Press.

Syrocki is not new to the community, either, as he currently owns and operates numerous Downriver restaurants including Truago, Mamacitas, Rocky’s Roadhouse in Trenton, Major Biddle’s in Wyandotte, and Lloyds on Grosse Ile. His restaurants employ approximately 200 people in total and have brought much diversity and vibrance to the local food scene.

Sportsmen’s Den was loved for its Italian-centric menu and bar food. The restaurant has always run holiday buffets on Easter, Mother’s Day, and Thanksgiving, all-you-can-eat buffets on Fridays, and live music performances. Now under new ownership, the restaurant will be renovated with a revamped menu carrying artisan pizzas, bar bites, and more. While The (new) Den will serve Syrocki’s type of food, it will be different compared to Major Biddle’s and Truago.

Syrocki’s brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and Christine Syrocki, will be co-operators alongside Syrocki. They are also co-operators for Major Biddle’s. Sportsmen’s Den is anticipated to open back up in December under a new name. By the time of this coverage, Syrocki had not responded to What Now Detroit’s email request for comments.
