The corner across from Mani Osteria and Bar will soon be a Middle Eastern restaurant.

Hummus Republic is coming to 401-407 E Liberty Street, per a recent post from Keystone Commercial Real Estate which carried out the lease of the property. This is to be the company’s first Michigan location. According to the franchisee, there is not an opening date yet as he has not been given the keys, but it will be sometime next year.

The chain is a franchise based in 15 states and serves bowls, wraps, pitas, salads and pita chips. Their pitas are customizable, with rice, hummus, falafel and chicken, along with other toppings and sauces. The company also caters, with share boxes and party boxes for events.

Also close to the storefront is Tios Mexican Cafe and Tequila Bar. The location is a few blocks from the University of Michigan central campus. If it opens next year, it will become a destination for many students coming too and from class.

Hummus Republic will join other Middle Eastern cuisine spots in downtown Ann Arbor like Pita Kabob Grill and Sava’s. As it is early in the leasing process, the company has not made a statement and construction hasn’t yet started.
