A new restaurant with an upscale vibe and music is arriving in Monroe in 2026.
54 South Restaurant and Lounge is coming to 54 S Monroe Street, per recent reports. It is being opened by William Slicker, and executive chef Sarah “Mac” Logan. Work is being put into the building right now, and a November 2026 opening is anticipated.
“We are looking forward to welcoming a new elegant speakeasy vibe to historic downtown Monroe, Michigan,” says their recent social media post. The space will also have wine and bourbon tastings, events and music entertainment.
Logan is an experienced cook who owns Mac & Loaf’s Grill, which has been serving the Monroe area. The new menu has not been released yet, but some of Logan’s signature dishes including mac-n-cheese bites and prohibition sliders with gruyere cheese and bacon can be expected.
Slicker is the main owner, and he purchased the property in 2012 with a vision for building a restaurant. He was impressed with Logan’s culinary experience at Mac & Loafs, and he offered to make Logan the executive chef and minority owner. Now, the project is coming to fruition.
Their restaurant will be at the corner of S Monroe and W 1st streets, close to The Michigan Museum of Horror. Other restaurants nearby include Amaya’s Fresh Mexican Grill and Nocturnal coffee shop. Monroe is about 40 minutes outside Detroit.
