A local businessman plans to open a treat shoppe in west Dearborn later this year.

Twisty Treats could soon be whipping up goodies inside a new desserts parlor at 23910 Cherry Hill St.

“We’re going to be serving smoothies, crepes, ice cream to the neighborhood and the community around us,” owner Iyad Almani told What Now Detroit.

Twisty Treats will take over a space once occupied by the Flower Boutique, a business that relocated last year. It will move into a strip plaza just east of Telegraph Road that’s flanked by the House of Beverage liquor store and Toarmina’s Pizza.

Dearborn planning commissioners are scheduled to review Twisty Treats’ site plan and consider a special land use for the restaurant Monday night. Almani had no estimations for the grand opening but said it’s at least a couple months out.

Almani, a Dearborn resident, is embarking on his first venture as a restaurant owner. He said the journey has been “very challenging” but indicated he’s excited to reach the finish line.

State business records show he filed the restaurant as a limited liability company in February.

No details were available about Twisty Treats as of press time. Dearborn planning officials had not posted the business’ site plans online by Friday and Almani was not readily available to detail his vision.
