The local Italian restaurant is expanding to a corner location in the town northwest of metro Detroit.

The owners of Sapori recently purchased a new building in downtown Owosso at 101 N Washington Street. Sapori currently serves Italian dishes in the American Legion Post building. Co-owner Amie Hebekeuser does not want to give an opening date yet, but it is coming soon.

The restaurant is known for their pizzas, garlic bread and lasagna, to name a few dishes. Their pizzas range from 14-inch hand tossed to Chicago style, with many toppings to add. Stramboni, calzones and loaded baked potatoes are also served at the building.

Sapori has become a well-known caterer at the American Legion Post in Owosso, where there is also a bar. Staff serve locals from 3-9 p.m. Saturday through Tuesday. The business will be pausing these operations while work is being done on the downtown location.

“This beautiful building will become the future home of Sapori, a full-service sit-down restaurant open daily and built to bring our love of food and family into the heart of the city,” said the recent post on their Facebook page.

Their location is right in the corner of W Main Street and N Washington Street. This is next to The Matteson’s photography studio, close to Murtle’s Homemade Chocolates. This will be one of the few restaurants offering Italian dishes in the downtown area.

Sapori’s new restaurant will be a seven-day service location, and the hours of operation have not been released. Announcements for the opening date will follow in the near future.
