Another Popeyes location in the Grand Rapids area is now on the horizon. The fried chicken chain is planning on a new restaurant at 1558 28th St. SW in Wyoming and has received approval for a special land use permit from the Wyoming Planning Commission last month. This news was first seen on MLive.
The 3,100-square-foot building that was previously occupied by Tim Horton would be remodeled to accommodate the new Popeyes. The permit application was submitted by Illinois-based civil engineering firm Woolpert, Inc on behalf of multi-unit franchisee Aby Groups to allow the operation of a drive-through.
According to the application, no demolition or building addition is needed other than minor facade improvements, replacement of menu boards and signage, and updating the dumpster enclosure. What Now Detroit reached out to the franchisee group but hadn’t heard back by the time of this coverage.
Popeyes, known for its chicken fingers and cajun-flavored sides currently operates four other locations in the Grand Rapids area. The proposed restaurant will be the chain’s first location in Wyoming and is right outside the new “City Center” that’s currently under development.
