A Farmington local is moving down the road for his new coffee spot.
From a recent social media announcement, the second Apothecary Espresso & Coffee location is coming to 49348 Pontiac Trail in Wixom. There is not yet a solid opening date, but construction is going on inside for both the kitchen and dining area.
Owner Miguel Williams has a special connection to Wixom as he and his brothers attended Detroit Catholic Central in Novi, just down the road from where their new cafe will be located. He grew up in Farmington before attending the school, and his family has been in the area for around 30 years. Williams wanted to again open a cafe close to home.
“It’s a city whose people we feel embody our same values of fostering connection and inclusion, no matter where you’re from.,” Williams said.
Apothecary Espresso and Coffee first opened in downtown Farmington in 2022 at 23366 Farmington Road, Suite B. Since then, it has become a popular community spot for grabbing a brew and socializing, open everyday. He works with Stovetop Roasters from Ann Arbor for brews made at the location.
On the menu side, Williams is changing the options a bit from Farmington as it will be “narrow and specialized.” He said everything will be made in-house, like the chais and syrups for the coffee. Options in Farmington include classic brewed coffee from a Brazil bean, espresso shots, a matcha latte and mocha with house-made chocolate sauces. Many of their coffees come hot or iced.
“We’d like to focus our efforts on serving this community to the best of our ability, then gradually grow our menu,” Williams said.
The new cafe will be near the intersection of Pontiac Trail and N Wixom Road. Also in this plaza are Drafting Table Brewing Company, El Camino Real Mexican Restaurant, Backyard Coney Island and China Garden Restaurant. Wixom Bar is right across the street, and this is considered Wixom’s downtown area.
