PanDeMonium to Bring Authentic Filipino Fare to Clawson

PanDeMonium, a Filipino pop-up kitchen and caterer, is building its first brick-and-mortar location at 84 W. 14 Mile St in the former Lim’s space. According to the submitted plans, the restaurant will undergo a complete remodeling of the interiors and the exteriors.

PanDeMonium, whose name is inspired by a Filipino bread roll called pandesal, is a family-owned business serving authentic Filipino flavors to the local communities. The business started when the owners, Rob and Ellen Dionisio, came across their grandma’s family recipes. When the pair took the recipes and prepared them at family gatherings and potlucks, they began to receive catering requests from some of their guests.

After having amazing responses from PanDeMonium’s Fernadale popups in 2022 and 2023, the owners saw a demand for a brick-and-mortar location and began their search. “Eventually, we narrowed it down to two cities. Both cities seemed to be very welcoming to our concept of a fine-dining Filipino restaurant. In the end, we found that Clawson was the perfect fit with an established restaurant scene,” Rob Dionisio, co-owner, told What Now Detroit in an email.

PanDeMonium’s menu focuses on different types of pandesal but also carries various Filipino staples such as eggrolls (pork and vegetarian), BBQ skewers (pork and chicken), pancit (noodles), and chicken adobo. The restaurant also has sweet treats like pandecoco (soft roll with sweet coconut filling), buko pandan (jelly cubes, young coconut, and sweetened cream infused with pandan or screwpine flavor), and halo halo (Filipino desserts).

The new PanDeMonium at W 14. Miles Street will start with approximately 40 seatings with plenty of room for expansion with plans to add a large outdoor patio. The restaurant is anticipated to open in the spring of 2024.

“We’d like to introduce Filipino food to those who haven’t tasted this cuisine before, offering a fine dining experience at our restaurant-bar. Entertainment will be provided through karaoke nights, live acts (including our house band Tubig), and other forms of local talent. In the warmer months, we plan to utilize the large outdoor space for special events highlighting Filipino culture through entertainers, musicians, and festivals,” said Dionisio.
