Pie Sci Pizza has announced plans to open its second location at 8140 W Nine Mile Rd.

Pie Sci Pizza founder Jeremy Damaske told What Now Detroit in an email that they hope to be open around the beginning of December.

The store will be carry-out service only, and the menu will be the same as their original location at 5163 Trumbull in the Woodbridge neighborhood – at least for now.

“We have a bit more room to be creative at the second spot, so we might explore that some as we get comfortable with the new space,” Damaske said. “We are considering opening up to some delivery services as well in hopes that we can reach a more broad base of customers.”

Pie Sci Pizza is known for its unique, inventive varieties of pizza, like the DevasTater (great for fans of tater tots) and the Indiana Jones and the Tempeh of Doom (a flavorful vegan option). Damaske recommends the Lil’ Kimchi, which features Thai coconut peanut sauce, mozzarella, sesame chicken, broccoli, crushed peanuts, kimchi, green onion and sesame-chili oil drizzle.

“It’s such an elevated pie and there’s nothing basic about it,” he said. “Tremendous flavor combination that makes your brain hurt like, ‘This is pizza?'”

Damaske told What Now Detroit they’re open to exploring some areas in the suburbs for a Pie Sci Pizza 3.0 without straying far from the existing stores.

“Ideally within about a 20-minute drive from the other two locations,” he said.

Pie Sci Pizza operated as a pop-up before opening its brick-and-mortar in Detroit in 2016.
