Detroit Rising Development is set to open Pop’s Corner Cafe and Market at 2740 Mount Elliott Street in McDougall-Hunt. Rick Stanza, a partner of Detroit Rising, was unavailable for comment when contacted by What Now Detroit on Sunday.

According to a write-up by Eater Detroit, the new community market and cafe will be opening in late 2023. Without comment the exact date is unknown.

Pop’s most recent Instagram post claims they are still under construction, and in need of finding funding to move forward with the project.

The build-out will be in a 1,800-square-foot building that once housed Mt. Elliott Charlevoix Market. The market closed due to the owner passing away, his sons sold the building.

Pop’s menu at the cafe is mostly unknown, though Eater Detroit reported it will be serving bagels, John Oliver Coffee, and bagels among other fresh food items.
