A new coffee shop that is set to be a casual community space is in the works on the north side of the city.
Saturn Coffee is opening next month at 700 Seward Avenue. According to owner Chris Welch, he and his team are finishing the buildout and inspection process, and are hoping for a mid-August opening. This timeline is not set in stone right now.
Welch has been working with his wife to create the space for about three years. The buildout of the space with the architects has taken about eight months.
“It’s been a long time coming for my wife and I,” Welch told What Now Detroit.
On their website, the menu is up featuring brews such as expressos, macchiatos, flat white and cappuccinos. Along with coffees and teas, Welch is planning on serving sandwiches featuring homemade biscuits and pastries.
The architects have had a large part to play in the creation of the coffee shop. Welch is working with local architects Chelsea Hyduk and Chris Johnson. Much of the space is being crafted with textured wood.
The hours of operation on the website are 6:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
