A sweet partnership is taking place for a new Dearborn cafe.
Livonia-based Cafe Au Lait has announced the team is partnering with La Gelati to open a new location at 22001 Michigan Avenue. This is Cafe Au Lait’s second business, and will be joining the existing La Gelati in downtown West Dearborn. Co-owner Bashar Hallak told What Now Detroit the opening date right now is March 25.
“A taste of Paris – crafted with love,” says the description on their Instagram page.
The flagship Cafe Au Lait opened in Livonia in August last year at 34782 Plymouth Road. It was founded by Hallak and his brother Abbas who wanted to bring French coffee to the area. Bashar said right now there are no other plans for expansion, but possibly in the future.
Cafe Au Lait’s menu ranges from coffees to breakfast sandwiches to desserts. One of their featured items is the smoked salmon bagel, toasted and layered with onion and chive cream cheese, smoked salmon, fresh tomato and briny capers. Also popular are their ice espressos, lattes, refreshers and smoothies.
“We will have some good unique drinks,” Bashar said.
Other restaurants at this address are Paradise Street Eats & Biryani, The Great Commoner and Modern Greek and Salad bar. This is right in West Dearborn’s downtown, right across the street from Qahwah House. Construction is nearing completion now.
This will add another option for La Gelati’s West Dearborn business which serves ice cream gelato, crepes and drinks like smoothies. What Now Detroit has also reached out to the owners of La Gelati and is awaiting comment. For more information on Cafe Au Lait, visit their Instagram or Facebook pages.
