The growing Yemeni coffee franchise is stepping into the college town very soon.

From their social media, Shibam Coffee will be opening at 414 S Main Street in downtown Ann Arbor. This continues the company’s growth in Southeast Michigan this year. Owner Amjed Oudeif told What Now Detroit he is hoping to open the doors in four-to-six weeks.

The new cafe is under construction near the corner of S Main Street and W Williams Street, sharing the building with The Brady Apartments. Oudeif and his team had been looking at locations around Ann Arbor before choosing the downtown spot, and finally settled on the Main Street address early last year.

“We started talking about it towards the first month of January,” Oudeif said. He added construction started this past summer.

Locations serve specialty Yemeni coffees like the Mufawar, traditional Yemeni milk tea infused with cardamom, and the Sana’ani with Yemeni tea and rich spice. Their staple Shibam coffee is the coffee house blend. Pastries like milk cake and pies are also on the menus.

The nearest Shibam Coffee location to Ann Arbor is at 49433 Cherry Hill Road in Canton Township. Most of the cafes are around metro Detroit, with another listed in Kalamazoo. The company is all over the midwest and is expanding into different markets like Kentucky and Pennsylvania.
