News about a new tasting room by Sip Shine, a moonshine and canned cocktail marketer, first came out in September 2022, and nobody had heard anything new since March when planning had started. The silence left many wondering if the tasting room is still happening: the answer is yes.

According to the latest updates, Sip Shine’s construction had begun quietly in October at 401 Stocking Ave. NW in Grand Rapids. As of January 2024, construction is underway and is anticipated to be completed in April or May 2024. The space was designed by WLP & Associates Ltd., and Orion Construction spearheads construction.

Sip Shine aims to build a “mini Nashville” on the city’s west side in the former Harmony Hall building. The three-story building will be converted into a tasting room, restaurant, daily live music venue, and a rooftop bar. The first floor will contain a tasting room for Sip Shine product sampling while guests wait to be seated for food or drinks on the upper floors. The second floor consists of a touring-quality stage with daily live music. The rooftop will include a bar and seating that can also be used as a private event space.

Sip Shine also plans to use its onsite parking lot to host outdoor events and block parties on Stocking Avenue with other nearby bars and restaurants. The local community has shown much excitement and anticipation for the new tasting room. Once construction is complete, Sip Shine hopes to open its doors as soon as possible.
