Looks like Sml Wrld Cafe is building a permanent location in the near future.

The owner of the cafe Izabella Ratcliffe recently announced her business is opening a new cafe in the near future. They still have their residency in Ann Arbor to serve matchas, but this will be a new space dedicated to serving drinks. She did not give an opening date, but said it will be somewhere in Detroit‘s Eastern Market neighborhood.

The Ann Arbor cafe has been selling matcha drinks since the launch in 2023. They have served dairy-free matcha and gluten-free pastries at locations including Hot Bones yoga studio in Detroit, 2895E Grand Boulevard. The new menu will be entirely new but with drinks fans have come to expect.

“We can’t say everything yet, but we will be back in Detroit and we’ll see you soon,” Ratcliffe said.

Eastern Market already has a couple locations that serve matcha including Germack and Anthology Coffee. This will be the neighborhood’s first dedicated matcha shop.

Right now, the owners are crafting drinks at the Shinola watch store downtown, 301 S Main Street. On social media, they have announced their new flavors from December, including the cinnamon roll, banana pudding and earl grey. They are open to perspectives for what their new menu will look like.
