A deli and bakery with European influences is soon to arrive in the northwestern suburb.
It is being reported the owners of Sylvan Table are opening a new concept called Cardoon Cafe and Provisions at 2190 Orchard Lake Road in Sylvan Lake. This is very close to their flagship restaurant. Right now, a mid-spring opening date is anticipated.
The project comes from Tim and Nicole Ryan, who opened Sylvan Table at 1819 Inverness Street in 2021. This restaurant has served entrees with farm-fresh ingredients and has become a popular option in Sylvan Lake. Cardoon Cafe & Provisions will be more of an all-day cafe and bakery concept, serving up sandwiches, pastries and pastas.
The owners are in the final phases of construction right now. Cardoon Cafe will be next to a Taco Bell, and Sylvan Table is right behind the business on Inverness. Many of the other restaurants and shops in Sylvan Lake are just southwest of the address, close to the intersection of Cass Lake Road.
“The location just kind of made sense,” Executive chef Scott Martinelli told What Now Detroit. Martinelli is also executive sous chef for Sylvan Table, and he has years of experience in Detroit hospitality.
Along with the sandwiches and pastries, the restaurant will serve charcuterie boards with cheeses. Many of the dishes have European flavors, like porchetta schiacciata, or Danish-style hot dogs. The exact menu has not yet been finalized.
When contacted, Tim and Nicole were not available for comment. More information including a website for the restaurant are expected to be released soon.
