The restaurant that closed in downtown Ann Arbor has been quickly filled by a new coffee shop.
It is being reported that Caffeena Coffee House will be taking the place of the former Tea Ninja Restaurant at 535 E Liberty Street. This is a coffee company based in Charlotte, North Carolina. There is no estimated date of opening right now.
According to the article from MLive, Tea Ninja just recently announced their closure. The restaurant had been open since January 2020 serving teas and sushi to University of Michigan students and locals. It was started by franchise owners Leon Mu and Wenjing Fei, and the closure was abrupt as the owners gave no prior announcements.
Caffeena Coffee currently has a location in Charlotte, with another opening soon in New York City. Their signature coffees include the Turkish brew which is fine ground coffee and cardamom, and Arabic which has the same ingredients, as well as the Yemeni brews. There are also black teas served, mojitos, smoothies, croissants and sandwiches.
The new coffee spot will be situated on the north side of E Liberty Street, close to State Street and the university. It is a couple stores down from Taste Kitchen, and across the street from Knight’s Steakhouse downtown.
