The 205 Coffee Bar, a Holland staple that has been around since 2017, is now under new ownership by father-and-daughter duo Ryan and Vanea Dawson. The new owners have extended the coffee shop’s hours of operation to 5 p.m. from Tuesday to Saturday, instead of the 1 p.m.

Located at 205 Columbia Ave, The 205 Coffee Bar has been an important piece to the local community since its opening. The business was previously owned by Jacqueline Petro, with whom Dawsons share a kindred friendship.

“This place, Jacqueline did a great job with it,” Ryan said. “It’s our hope that we can take the foundation she and (her son) Luke built and take it from there.”

While Ryan Dawson most recently worked as a real estate agent, he opened his first coffee shop in central Illinois in 2002 and his daughter, Vanea, is just as much immersed in the coffee shop culture and has been a barista since 2016.

The Dawsons plan on relaunching the bar with cocktails, beer, and wine, with a small food menu next spring. The duo will also continue The 205 Coffee Bar‘s tradition of opening the shop on Christmas, raising money for the Boys and Girls Club of Holland.
