After 12 years, one of Detroit’s favorite food trucks has found a permanent parking spot.

The Pita Post is opening its first-ever storefront at 2520 W. 14 Mile Road in Royal Oak. The new location will serve a modern Mediterranean-style menu and feature the brand’s signature pita bread, baked fresh in-house.

While many of the food truck’s fan favorites will still be available, the storefront will also introduce new additions to the menu.

“We have some new items,” owner Tal Sasson told What Now Detroit. “We have some new categories like rice bowls, hummus bowls, new sides but definitely keeping the favorites as usual.”

A longtime customer favorite is the chicken schnitzel pita — a crispy chicken patty with a kick that can be served in a pita or over a salad. The menu also includes vegan falafel, chicken and beef shawarma, and beef cheesesteaks.

The storefront will not offer dine-in seating, but customers can place carry-out or delivery orders in person or online within a six-mile radius. A self-ordering kiosk will also be available inside the shop.

“We are most excited that finally we are extending our days and hours of operation from a food truck because in the past 12 years of business, we were more available for private events so now the public can always find us, five days a week,” Sasson said. “We’re very excited to be available for all our loyal customers.”

The Pita Post will begin with a soft launch and officially open in June. Regular hours will be Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The shop will be closed on Sundays and Mondays.

And for loyal fans of the food truck — it’s not going anywhere. The truck will continue to operate alongside the new storefront.
