The charming downtown is getting a new addition with Mediterranean flavors.

A new project called Travola Mia is replacing Joe Vicari’s The Bronze Door at 123 Kercheval Avenue. The restaurant is described as “Italian brunch and dinner,” from their website. Co-owner Marius Maniac told What Now Detroit he is hoping to open sometime in mid-April.

The restaurant’s focus will be on Italian seafood dishes like shrimp cocktail, North Atlantic fried calamari and PEI mussels with garlic white wine sauce and parsley. Soups, salads and handhelds like their signature burger are also in the plans. It wouldn’t be an Italian restaurant without pizza, and the team is crafting their own unique takes on flavors like margherita and bianca.

“Culinary mastery through fresh ingredients,” says the description on their website.

Their brunch menu features twists on breakfast staples like the Arcadian Benedict, featuring fried eggplants, spinach, roasted red peppers and hollandaise with red skin potatoes. Some of the same entrees from the dinner menu are also available, and cocktails such as bloody mary’s and classic mimosas are served.

Joe Vicari Restaurant Group closed The Bronze Door at the end of 2025. It initially opened in 2021 and became known as a staple brunch and cocktail spot in the city’s downtown. At the time, the restaurant group did not want to disclose information on the new concept.

The downtown Grosse Pointe Farms restaurant will be a couple storefronts down from Luxe Bar & Grill. Other businesses nearby include Dirty Dog Jazz Cafe and Cafe Nini. Construction is finishing up inside to prepare for the opening.

The listed hours of operation are 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 9 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. More information and the menu for Travola Mia can be found at travolamiagp.com
