The Ferndale ice cream shop is bringing about a new business model for the community.

It was recently reported by The Detroit News that the ice cream shop at 22965 Woodward Avenue is changing to a food hall called the Pavilion by early 2026. There will be four restaurants and bars brought to the outdoor hall, including one from acclaimed chef Josie Clemens. Treat Dreams should be staying open while construction is happening.

The other concepts coming to the Pavilion include an Asian cuisine restaurant serving dumplings from Jared Bobkin, and a nonalcoholic beverage bar from musician Emily Infinity and Isabel Cali named Cosmic Roots. A Venezuelan food truck is moving into the space as well, all while Treat Dreams continues operations.

Treat Dreams is in downtown Ferndale close to Culantro Peruvian restaurant and Nine Kitchen + Bar. The food carts are going in behind the store, collectively creating the Pavilion concept.

The ice cream shop was first opened by Scott Moloney in Ferndale in August 2010. Since then, the team has introduced locations in Midtown, Madison Heights and Grosse Pointe Woods. The company also operates a food truck called The Dream Machine, serving single scoop, ice cream sandwiches, pints and brownies.

Pavilion was just announced on Oct. 15, and there is not yet an official statement on Treat Dreams’ website. What Now Detroit reached out to Moloney and is awaiting comment. For more information, visit their Facebook page.
