The award winning restaurant group has a new project in store for downtown Detroit.
It is being reported that Chip Wade’s Union Square Hospitality Group will debut a new concept at the recently constructed Hudson building, 1240 Woodward Avenue. This will be the first time the company has expanded to the Detroit market. The official opening date is yet to be announced, but it will be sometime next year.
Union Square Hospitality, based in New York City, has concepts around the Northeast and has been the recipient of multiple Michelin stars and James Beard Awards. The name of the new restaurant and cuisine served will be disclosed in the coming weeks. Wade told What Now Detroit he and his team are “extremely excited about entering the Detroit market.”
Hudson’s Detroit is currently a corporate office building, with multiple businesses planned for the space. One of the shops is Un Deux Trios, a French cafe that will serve espressos, coffees and pastries starting Nov. 6. The Nick Gilbert Way project, a pedestrian plaza, is also planned at the base of the building.
The company has continued to stretch into different markets this year. What Now Boston reported in March on Union Square opening Ci Siamo and Daily Provisions in Boston’s Seaport District. The Hudson restaurant is the newest project from Union Square.
Wade is working with Bedrock Detroit, the real estate company that has been instrumental in building up the city in recent years. Currently, the company is looking for staff to join the hospitality team.
