The store is preparing to say goodbye by April 2026. In the official announcement of closure, the team behind the store explained that after over a century of business, the Dittrich family will be retiring soon.

“After much reflection, the Dittrich family has decided to retire and focus on the health and well-being of our family,” said the store’s team.

Highlighting the legacy of the store, they added, “For 132 years and five generations, our family has been proud to provide the finest fur and natural material fashions, along with the craftsmanship, care, and personal service that have defined who we are.”

Dittrich Furs Offering Deep Discounts Before Closing

As Dittrich Furs prepares to close, the business thanked the Detroit community for its longtime support. To celebrate the final chapter of its story, the store has announced a major giveaway on all Dittrich Furs’ items.

The store is hosting a “retirement liquidation sale through April 30, 2026.” During this sale period, all store items will be available at a 70% discounted price.

“Our entire inventory of more than 3,000 fashions—valued at over $9 million—will be offered at 70% off, representing the lowest prices we, or anyone, has ever offered,” said the store’s team.

With the closure of Dittrich Furs, Detroit marks the end of a historic chapter in its retail community. The store operated by generations of the Dittrich family will be leaving behind a legacy of service and upscale fashion.
