Michigan owned and operated Born IN Detroit Apparel, LLC has just moved their storefront and opened a new, larger storefront at 1419 Woodward Ave. in downtown Detroit, near Grand River Ave.  Located just down the street from their original store, the new space, designed in partnership with Michigan’s top furniture retailer, Gardner White, will feature the beloved lifestyle brand whose apparel and merchandise celebrates community spirit and Detroit pride.

Originally conceived as a temporary pop-up during the 2024 NFL Draft, the Born IN Detroit store proved to be so popular that it became a permanent fixture and must-see destination on Woodward Ave.  With their ever-expanding lines of apparel and merchandise, Born IN Detroit seized the opportunity to expand into the new 1,950 sq.ft. space previously occupied by Dez Delmar Forever.

In the new space, shoppers can continue to expect to find a variety of ways to showcase their Detroit pride.  From apparel featuring new and classic Born IN Detroit designs on t-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies and sweatpants in men’s, women’s, and youth sizes to merchandise ranging from hats and crossbody bags to glassware, Detroit natives and visitors can find countless ways to show their pride and affection for the Motor City.  The store also carries Born IN Detroit officially licensed apparel for the Detroit Tigers, Lions, Red Wings, Pistons, and Amps along with several colleges including the University of Michigan, Michigan State University, Eastern Michigan University and Oakland University.

The design of the new store, featuring carefully curated furnishings from GW HOME, Gardner White’s new concept store located on Woodward Avenue across from Hudson’s Detroit, reflects Detroit’s trendy, urban style while creating a lounge-type atmosphere for shoppers.

“Opening our new, larger storefront on Woodward Avenue is a proud milestone for Born IN Detroit,” said Anthony Tomey, Co-Owner of Born IN Detroit and CEO of The Tomey Group in a statement. “We partnered with GW Design, Gardner White’s incredible team of design experts, to bring to life a space that truly celebrate Detroit’s energy and resilience.  We look forward to welcoming everyone and continuing to champion the city we love.”

Born IN Detroit was brought to life in 2020 by a group of true Detroiters, two sets of brothers Michael and Anthony Tomey, and George and Alex Bourkoulas. The brand was created with the mission of showcasing the pride of Detroiters near and far, and to establish a brand partner to champion the city and surrounding communities. The founders were all born in Detroit, attended area schools, played sports throughout the area, and have a fierce gritty work ethic that overflows with pride for all things Detroit.  Born IN Detroit was created to honor Detroit as more than just a city, that it is a feeling of pride, hard work and perseverance.  The dynamic and rapidly growing lifestyle brand has quickly become a beloved name, celebrated for its distinctive blend of fashion, community spirit, and Detroit pride.

Born IN Detroit is now located at 1419 Woodward Ave. (near Grand River Ave.) in downtown Detroit.  Store hours are Tuesday-Saturday 11am-7pm, Sunday 10am-4pm and closed on Mondays.  Born IN Detroit apparel and merchandise is also available to purchase online at www.BornInDetroit.store.
