A new pizza shop for Michigan State University may be arriving this summer.
It was reported by East Lansing Info that the business Side Piece Pizza is applying for space at 213 Ann Street in East Lansing. This is set to be an expansion of the FieldHouse sports bar, with Side Piece being built right next to the bar. It will be in Suite B of the space.
Earlier this year, owner Jason Bamford told East Lansing City Council the expansion would give the space a “cleaner dining space.” He brings experience as the executive chef of ZANA restaurant in Birmingham, as well as being a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America.
The menu for Side Piece has not been released yet, but customers can expect slices of pizza when coming from the bar FieldHouse next door. FieldHouse already has a food menu, with items such as wings, fries, burgers, chicken wings, tacos and desserts.
On their website, the pizza shop is listed as “Coming soon!” There is still not an estimated date of opening. As of March, the project was awaiting approval at the City Council level.
Right next to FieldHouse is the bar HopCat East Lansing. There are also restaurants in the area such as El Azteco East Mexican, Jolly Pumpkin, Barrio and Dave’s Hot Chicken. This area is just north of the Michigan State campus.
When What Now Detroit reached out to the owner, he said he had no comment.
