Walmart Opens ‘Store of the Future’ in Cypress

The latest Cypress Supercenter was formally launched on April 30. Describing it as a ‘Store of the Future,’ Walmart envisions helping residents shop faster in a streamlined way with its innovative tech services.

Located at 8927 Fry Road, Cypress, Texas, the latest store is Walmart’s first ground-up supercenter since 2021.

Amenities at the Ground-up Supercenter

The retail chain giant is aims to provide a range of facilities and amenities to the people of Cypress through its latest supercenter. The same would be offered through Walmart’s mix of physical and digital offerings.

QR codes at the ground-up supercenter will allow Cypress residents to find access to the Walmart store’s digital resources. Other than this, the downtown Houston location will offer shoppers a gas station, pharmacy, vision center, a Dunkin’s store, a mother’s room, and an auto care center.

Food-based offerings at the Cypress-based supercenter will include a sushi station, a bakery section, and a fresh tortilla maker. Fashion, pet, baby, and home-related offerings will be further found at the new Walmart Supercenter.

To allow Cypress residents to shop seamlessly, the ‘Store of the Future’ will present curbside pickup, InHome, and express delivery options.

New Jobs and Economic Growth Await Cypress

The popular retail brand is driven to bring more than 300 jobs to the Cypress location. Walmart added that the new jobs at the supercenter will include flexible scheduling, tuition-free college, and competitive paid time off.

Other than positions for Cypress’ locals, the retail giant will support regional contractors, service providers, and suppliers. Working with these groups is expected to boost economic development.

More Walmart Supercenters to Be Launched in the Future

To bring its plan of 150+ new stores into action, the popular retail chain is set to open many other supercenters this year. Some new locations include Frisco, Texas; Eastvale, California; Eagle Mountain, Utah; and Melissa, Texas.

On the other hand, existing Walmart stores will be revamped into supercenters in East Windsor, New Jersey, and Mountain View, California.

Some neighborhood markets will also be homes to supercenters through locations at Milton, Florida; Pace, Florida; and Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
