De Fortune, Houston’s newest cocktail destination, officially opened its doors in Regent Square on April 25, welcoming a heightened level of panache and creativity to the city’s buzzy bar scene. The inaugural concept from budding, Texas-based hospitality group, MAKE Investments, the Allen Parkway corridor nightspot sets itself apart with its seasonally changing, globally inspired beverage menu, intimate scale and one-of-a-kind design.

For its introduction, the MAKE team challenged Unfiltered Hospitality, the Miami-based beverage consultancy, to infuse the menu with a palette of global flavors, including Lychee (Japan), Mastiha (Greece), Tiramisu (Italy), Saffron (India), Creme de Cacao (Caribbean), Rhubarb (England) and Praline (America). The result is a balanced and artfully presented capsule offering of six classic and twelve signature cocktails. Guests also have the option of a selection of premium beers and wines by the glass.

“We’re thrilled this three-year vision has finally come to fruition,” says Mayur Desai, co-founder of MAKE Investments in a statement. “Our hope is that De Fortune takes patrons on a sensory journey of discovery with captivating flavors and visuals that reflect the increasingly sophisticated surroundings of this dynamic neighborhood.”

De Fortune was conceived with international appeal in mind by Houston-based interiors firm, Gin Design Group – known for shaping some of the city’s most memorable and visually stunning spaces, including Haii Keii, MaKiin, ChopnBlok, Saigón Hustle and Sunday Press.

The 1,614-square-foot, jewel box space is punctuated by moody, monochromatic groupings of plush furnishings, scattered across a herringbone tiled floor. A bed of lush, overgrown tropical greenery encircles the central column, climbing towards the sculptural plastered ceiling, which is reminiscent of an exotic cavern. The plaster extends down in a gem-toned gradient along the focal wall. At the heart of the design is a striking bar where elegant arches, clad with Azul quartzite, incorporate an iridescent blue- mirrored finish to reflect the glow of illuminated bottles.

In addition to its crafted cocktails, De Fortune will offer a curated selection of charcuterie boards with meats and cheeses thoughtfully sourced from around the world. The cocktail menu will be refreshed regularly to highlight fresh ingredients and introduce innovative drink formats and experimental recipes.

DeFortune is located at 3515 W Dallas St Suite 300, Houston, Texas 77019 and is open from 4 pm to 2 am Sunday through Saturday. Happy Hour is available daily from 4pm to 7pm. Reservations are available via Resy.
