Urban Bird Hot Chicken, the veteran-owned Nashville-style hot chicken sensation, announced the grand opening of its 20th location at 19922 Southwest Freeway in Sugar Land. This milestone marks a significant expansion for the Katy-based brand, which has rapidly grown across Texas since its inception in 2020.

Founded by Brandon and Chantel Gawthorp, Urban Bird Hot Chicken has become known for its commitment to quality, serving all-natural, antibiotic-free, hormone-free, and halal-certified chicken. The menu incudes the Tender Basket, Urban Fries, and the Sando Combo, all customizable with flavors ranging from “Country” (no heat) to “Fire in the Hole!” Sides like mac and cheese topped with Flamin’ Hot Cheetos, kale slaw, and seasoned street corn complement the main offerings.

“We’re excited to bring our bold flavors and community-focused dining experience to Sugar Land,” said co-founder Chantel Gawthorp in a statement. “This opening represents not just our growth, but our dedication to sharing quality food with more Texans.”

The Sugar Land location will operate as a corporate store, reinforcing Urban Bird’s expansion strategy in the Houston metropolitan area. This opening follows the brand’s recent venture into franchising, with plans for additional locations in Deer Park and near Memorial City this summer.

Urban Bird Hot Chicken’s Sugar Land restaurant is now open, welcoming guests to experience its signature dishes in a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere.
