55 Seventy, a high-end private wine and social club known for its luxury wine storage and top-tier culinary program, is bringing its elite experience to Houston. Following the success of its flagship location in Dallas, which launched in 2022, the club will establish a second location in the River Oaks area.
As Houston’s hospitality scene embraces more private, members-only clubs, 55 Seventy aims to cater to a sophisticated clientele of wine connoisseurs, culinary enthusiasts, and social tastemakers. 55 Seventy offers members the ability to store and enjoy their personal wine collections on-site, unlike a traditional private club, while indulging in a thoughtfully curated menu of chef-driven cuisine. For non-collectors, the club will provide an extensive wine list, without the typical restaurant markup, alongside premium spirits and craft cocktails.
“We are thrilled to bring the 55 Seventy concept to Houston, a city known for its entrepreneurial spirit, global flair, and vibrant dining scene,” said founder Tommy Shuey. “Building on the success of our Dallas location, we’re focused on creating an elevated experience, where members can relax, socialize, and have the option to bring and drink their own wine among friends.”
Named after the ideal temperature and humidity conditions for wine storage (55 degrees, 70% humidity), the club was originally conceived as a private wine cellar for collectors seeking an upscale social environment. The concept has since evolved into a full-service social and dining club, featuring unrivaled wine storage, exceptional food offerings, exclusive spirits, and private event spaces.
55 Seventy’s Houston location will feature approximately 800 wine lockers and cellars to accommodate collections of various sizes, alongside elegantly designed dining and lounge areas, private cellar suites, and versatile spaces for social and business gatherings. The design will reflect Houston’s cosmopolitan character with bespoke furnishings and upscale finishes from a collaboration effort between Gin Design Group and Abel Design Group.
Corporate Director of Wine & Service Jeff Gregory will oversee member benefits, including access to a team of expertly trained sommeliers, a full-time wine concierge, brokerage services for rare wines, and an extensive wine program featuring interactive tastings, pairing dinners, and masterclasses. From casual weekly Pop & Pour events to extensive vertical tastings with top estates and domaines, the club’s members will have an immersive wine experience like no other.
Expanding on the acclaimed culinary program from Dallas, Corporate Executive Chef Josh Sutcliff emphasized the Houston location’s commitment to matching and exceeding expectations. “We are keenly aware of Houston’s high culinary bar, and we are excited to become a part of the city’s dynamic food scene,” Sutcliff said. A key component of this initiative includes hiring a Houston-based executive chef to tailor the menu to local tastes. Members can also anticipate a state-of-the-art demonstration kitchen, featuring experiential cooking classes led by a Michelin-starred chef, guest chef appearances, and private rental options.
One highly anticipated feature is a rooftop patio, a direct response to member requests. “Houston has a huge wine market and a diverse, high-end clientele looking for an elevated social experience like this,” Shuey noted.
55 Seventy offers four membership tiers, each providing a range of benefits, including reciprocal access to other elite private clubs across the country and internationally. Shuey expects significant demand, particularly for the Founder’s Equity Membership, which he anticipates selling out quickly.
“We are definitely expanding the brand. This is number two that will be one of many across the country,” Shuey told in an exclusive with What Now Houston.
With a firm foundation in Dallas and an eager market in Houston, 55 Seventy is poised to redefine the city’s private club landscape, offering an unmatched haven for wine lovers and culinary aficionados alike come next year in 2026.
