Active Coffee Shop, a new concept founded by Cristhian Reyes and a group of friends, is set to open its doors at 5416 4th St, Katy, TX 77493. This new venture promises to bring something fresh to the Old Katy community by combining a passion for cycling with a love for coffee and healthy living. The partners behind this venture, who also run Active Cycling Shop, see the cafe as a natural extension of their shared interests.

“This is the first Active Coffee Shop, and it’s our concept,” said Reyes, Partner and Project Manager. “We are a group of friends—Oscar, Leonardo, Edgar, Darío, Julio, Danilo, and myself—who are passionate about cycling and sports. This coffee shop reflects that passion and brings something new to the people of Old Katy.”

The inspiration for the shop stems from the idea of creating a space where community and sports can meet. Reyes explained that the team wanted to build on the connections fostered through cycling and extend that sense of camaraderie to a coffee shop. “The goal is to provide a space that brings people together not just for coffee, but for experiences that strengthen family and community bonds,” he shared. The focus on community is a key pillar of the concept, with plans for “coffee rides” that will integrate group cycling with social gatherings at the cafe.

The menu at Active Coffee Shop will offer much more than just coffee, with a focus on health-conscious options designed to complement an active lifestyle. Alongside high-quality coffee, customers can expect energy-boosting smoothies, nutritious snacks, and items tailored to athletes. According to Reyes, “We’re really excited to offer a range of healthy options that complement an active lifestyle.”

The coffee shop’s transformation of an existing residential home into a cafe is well underway, with the project estimated to cost $20,000, according to a permit. The team hopes to open between late November 2024 or early December 2024 if everything stays on track. You can follow updates on their Instagram (@activecoffeeshop), with plans to launch a website and Facebook page soon.
