Ford Fry’s Superica in Houston Heights Closes
Superica is a Tex-Mex restaurant by Atlanta-based restaurateur Ford Fry and run by the Rocket Farm Restaurants group. The restaurant drew inspiration from the flavors and atmosphere of classic 1970s and 1980s Tex-Mex eateries.
Superica blended retro design with a contemporary dining experience for Houston guests. The menu focuses on classic Tex-Mex dishes that are prepared using a made-in-house approach.
Menu highlights included cheese, chicken, and beef enchilada, hot fajitas with homemade flour tortillas, and tacos, which are stuffed with slow-cooked meats, grilled seafood, or vegetables of the season.
Guests also enjoyed combination plates, freshly made queso and guacamole, plus traditional rice and refried beans.
Superica Houston is a branch of the Superica restaurant chain under Ford Fry. Over the years, the Houston location built a loyal following with its margaritas, shareable plates, and weekend brunch.
On February 15, the restaurant ceased its operations in Houston. No reason for the closure has been disclosed. However, there are Superica locations in other cities where one can relish the brand’s classics.

The former Superica space will not remain vacant for long. The restaurant is experiencing a change of concept to Star Rover Steakhouse, which is also part of the growing Fry portfolio. The post read, “We’re proud of what we built here — and excited for what’s next. On February 26th, Star Rover begins a new chapter in this space.”
Superica’s closure marks the end of an era for Tex-Mex dining in Houston Heights.
