Beat The Bomb, a pioneer in interactive social video gaming, is set to bring its unique multiplayer gaming challenge to Houston, as part of a broader expansion fueled by a recently secured $15M Series B investment. The funding round, led by Otium Capital and Conversion Venture Capital (CVC2), marks a significant step for the Brooklyn-based company in achieving its ambition to expand to 100 cities globally by 2030.

Since its inception in 2017, Beat The Bomb has turned heads and earned accolades, featuring on NBC’s Today Show, ABC, FOX5, and The Real Housewives of Atlanta. With its innovative blend of video games, escape rooms, and action-packed experiences, the company has successfully hosted over 500,000 players, carving a niche in the realm of social entertainment.

Founded by Alex Patterson, a Harvard College and UVA Law School graduate, and former executive at Tough Mudder, Beat The Bomb aims to bring people together through shared, immersive gaming experiences. “Most video games isolate a person in front of a screen,” said Patterson. “Beat The Bomb is using video game technology to create social gaming experiences that bring people together, creating shared memories and building stronger relationships.”

The gaming company offers an assortment of missions, including Paint Bomb and Foam Bomb, which test different skills and require the active participation of all team members. Players, adorned in hazmat suits, navigate through interactive video game rooms, attempting to disarm a “Bomb” before time runs out, culminating in a vibrant explosion of paint or foam for unsuccessful teams.

The company’s state-of-the-art venues, designed by ARCO/Murray, feature futuristic full-service bars and “Game Bay” lounges, catering to a diverse clientele including families, students, and corporate teams. Notably, companies like Amazon, Coca-Cola, and Microsoft have chosen Beat The Bomb for team-building events, highlighting its growing appeal in the corporate sector.

Beyond entertainment, Beat The Bomb demonstrates a commitment to education and community. In partnership with nonprofits such as Girls Who Code and STEM for Her, the company has introduced STEM workshops, contributing to the development of skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Aurélie Pasquet Bessiere, Partner at Otium Capital, expressed enthusiasm for Beat The Bomb’s next development phase. “We invest several tens of millions each year in retail, e-commerce, and omnichannel brands in the U.S. and Europe. We look for the next generation of brands and experiences with ambitious long-term visions and we believe Beat The Bomb to be such a key player for the future,” she said.

With the infusion of capital and a vision set on international horizons, Beat The Bomb is poised to redefine social entertainment.
