Eggs Up Grill is bringing more of its good eats and comforting environment to the Greater Houston region. The South-Carolina breakfast brand has signed a five-unit development agreement with Texas franchise partners, Louis and Lisa Jones, according to a recent press release.
“We are planning to be very hands-on,” Lisa said in a conversation with What Now Houston about the upcoming Eggs Up Grill expansion.
“Some of our favorite restaurants are where the owners are there, they come up and greet you, and you just feel like a little community. You feel like you’re recognized, and that’s one thing that’s very important to us.”
Eggs Up Grill was founded with that same community-focused vibe in mind in Pawleys Island, South Carolina, by Chris Skodras in 1997. Since then, the fast-casual breakfast, brunch, and lunch concept has continued to blossom and is now based in Spartanburg, SC.
The brand began franchising in the mid-2000s and experienced rapid growth once the current CEO, Ricky Richardson, jumped on board in 2018, surpassing a hundred Eggs Up Grill locations in the Southeast.
“We see tremendous opportunity in Houston and throughout the region as we work with multi-unit operators who can grow with the brand while offering guests great tasting food and beverages with the Eggs Up Grill Promise of Everything to Make You Smile,” Richardson said in the press release.
There’s currently one Eggs Up Grill in the Greater Houston area, and it’s in Conroe. The Joneses stumbled upon the perfect opportunity to enlarge the footprint of this community-forward breakfast brand in the region.
It would be a golf trip to Myrtle Beach that would spark this exciting new venture for the Joneses and their community.
“It was one of the few restaurants that was open at 6 am, which is early enough for me to eat before golf, and I just started to enjoy going there,” Louis said.
The Joneses informed What Now Houston that they are currently setting up a lease agreement with plans to open in the last quarter of 2026.
The hope is to keep the spirit of the franchise alive by ensuring the franchise and the franchisees are an integral part of the community.
“Eggs up Grill really likes the franchisees to be a part of the community, so we’re really looking to just be a nice place that people can go,” Lisa said.
Through the new Eggs Up Grill expansion, the plan is to sponsor local teams, celebrate veterans, and be an integral part of the community.
“Louis and Lisa bring deep community values to this partnership, and their commitment reflects the strength of our development strategy in Houston and across Texas,” Richardson said.
With an extensive menu that continues to draw in crowds across the Southeast, Eggs Up Grill already has a proven track record of delivering the goods.
Eggs Up Grill cooks up and dishes out a variety of breakfast, brunch, and lunch dishes, including classics like the biscuit & gravy breakfast and steak and eggs, a variety of hearty bowls, savory dishes, and sweet delights.
“I have a sweet tooth, and they have a lot of really interesting breakfast options. They’re getting ready to roll out this blueberry pancake with a lemon custard that we tried. It’s so good,” Lisa said with a chuckle.
“When I went out to Myrtle Beach, I got it every time,” Louis said.
“I think it’s called a country breakfast or southern bowl. But, ultimately, it had a combination I hadn’t seen before. It had potatoes, grits, and gravy in the same bowl. At first I looked at it, and I thought ‘mmm, I don’t know about that.’ But man, did I fall in love with it.”
With plans underway, we’re sure you’ll fall in love with the Joneses and what they hope to bring to the community.
“We’re looking forward to opening,” Lisa said.
“Yes, come out and give us a shot,” Louis added.
Eggs Up Grill is anticipated to open its second location, the first of five to come to the region, by the end of 2026.
