El Trompo Loco is continuing to build a family legacy, preserve Mexican heritage, and celebrate Monterrey, Mexico’s authentic good eats, with a new opening.  The family behind the brand is embarking on its fourth opening. According to a recently filed permit, El Trompo Loco #4 is set to open in the Airline Drive shopping center at 7418 Airline Dr, Suite Y.

Construction details on the permit show that construction on the new eatery is slated to start at the end of March and wrap up by the end of June 2026What Now Houston spoke to El Trompo Loco #4 owner Iliana Solis about the upcoming opening. Solis confirmed that El Trompo Loco #4 would indeed open in the Airline Drive shopping center this year, but is projecting an opening in April or late May of this year.

“We all have the same menu with a few exceptions at each location. Every business my parents started it and you can expect authentic Mexican food,” Solis said.

Solis’ parents founded the business in 2017, putting each sibling in charge of the establishments. Solis is the fourth and final sibling to join in on the family business.

Solis went to school for nursing and worked as a nurse before opening an El Trompo Loco food truck in the very shopping center where the new brick-and-mortar location will open.

“By God’s grace, fate. One of the spaces in the shopping center became available, and we just for months ‘should we ask’ and we finally did, and that’s how it came about,” Solis said.

“When it happens, it happens.”

And it very well may be the perfect time.

The brand has already started to build a name and a reputation for itself in the Greater Houston community.

Known for Trompo, pork meat cooked Monterrey style, El Trompo Loco is also beloved for its Mexican hamburgers and their variations, baked potatoes, and more.

“A little bit of a reminder of what you may miss from home, trying to bring that flavor back and transport them to their roots,” Solis said.

“We appreciate their support with our locations, and you’re more than welcome to come, and we hope to see you there. We are very open to preferences, very family-oriented and community-oriented.”
