In the dynamic world of entrepreneurship, the Waugh family is setting a new trend. Known for their family’s businesses acumen, the Waughs are now making a delightful entry into the frozen yogurt industry with the opening of a franchised location of 16 Handles in Magnolia, Texas. Ryan Waugh, the proprietor of Waugh Family Wines in California, is co-leading this sweet new venture alongside his family.

Waugh Froyo marks their entry as the main hub for the popular froyo chain. This venture is a family affair, co-owned by Ryan, his wife Crystal, and their sons Jordan and Carter. Crystal is already successful with her Snap Vodka brand through her budding distillery in College Station, and is an integral part of this new journey. And adding to the family’s portfolio, their youngest, Carter AKA Critt, has a patent on a up-and-coming shoe design through his company aptly named Critts.

Their interest in 16 Handles sparked from their sons’ following of a famous YouTuber. Impressed by the brand’s vision to be the “Starbucks of froyo,” the Waughs saw a perfect alignment with the energy they wanted in a brand. Ryan praises the ease of franchising with 16 Handles, highlighting the company’s excellent training program that ensures a successful start and ongoing operations for entrepreneurs. Their decision was also fueled by their love for frozen yogurt and the desire to bring something unique to their community.

They have always had an eye on the growth in their area, especially in Magnolia, where a significant number of new homes are expected. This was seen as an opportunity to bring something meaningful and impactful to the community as froyo was hard to come by without a bit of a drive.

The Waugh family’s journey is a testament to their entrepreneurial spirit and their commitment to enriching their community. With their diverse business portfolio, from wines and spirits, to shoes and now frozen yogurt, they continue to make a significant impact in the entrepreneurial world.

Their first 16 Handles store is slated for late Spring or early Summer of 2024 in Northwest Houston, near College Station. This is just the beginning, as are expanding further with a second location in the works soon to follow, and will continue opening more of these froyo shops after the success of the first two.
