A Fat Tuesday location is being planned for Houston. Andrew Alvis, partner, told What Now Houston the Fat Tuesday at 2010 Wayside Rd. in Houston is expected to open sometime during the second quarter of 2023. Fat Tuesday currently has locations on FM 1093 in Richmond, one on Westheimer Rd. in Houston, and a third on N. Fry Rd. in Katy.

Alvis hopes to have a total of seven locations open across the Greater Houston area by the end of 2023. “Over the next five years, we plan to open 20 in Houston.”

Alvis is currently looking at a space in The Heights and others within the inner loop, but those locations haven’t been finalized. One of the reasons Fat Tuesday is expanding rapidly across Houston is the Alcohol To-Go law signed into law in 2021.

“For this new concept, it’s really drive-thru daiquiris,” Alvis said. Depending on location, 10-15 different flavored daiquiris can be purchased to-go, but each location offers some bar and table seating. “We’re probably 80% drive-thru, but you can still definitely come, walk inside, taste all the daiquiris, and sample them, hang out in our space.”

Fat Tuesday was founded in New Orleans back in 1984. “They’ve been perfecting the frozen cocktails, daiquiris, for years,” Alvis said.

“We really want to be the main brand for daiquiris in Houston. I think the name stands out as a national brand as really your grab-and-go party cup,” Alvis said. Fat Tuesday also sells gallon-sized bags for backyard parties.
