Sonic Drive-In is getting a fresh start in El Campo, as Franchisee Mike Mersiosky prepares to build a brand-new location at 1609 N Mechanic St. The new drive-in will replace the current Sonic, which has been a community staple since 1976. That original building, built by Mersiosky’s father and now showing signs of wear, will remain open until the new Sonic is ready for customers.
Mersiosky has been with Sonic for nearly 40 years, following in his father’s footsteps. He also operates two Sonic locations in Houston and several others throughout Texas, is eager to bring this updated experience to the El Campo community.
Construction is set to begin in the next week or two, and the new Sonic will feature updated equipment and infrastructure while maintaining the same menu.
If all goes according to plan, the new Sonic Drive-In is expected to open by late February or early March 2025, giving longtime fans and new visitors something to look forward to as the Mersiosky family continues its nearly half-century legacy with Sonic in El Campo.
