Golden Corral is planning to open a new location in Baytown. According to a recently filed permit, the new Golden Corral is expected to open at 4350 East Highway 10.

The permit also details that the $4,000,000 construction project on the new Baytown 9,258 square-foot eatery is slated to start in August of this year and wrap up by April 2027.

This would be the eighth location to come to the Greater Houston region.

Golden Corral was founded by James Maynard and William Carl in Fayetteville, North Carolina, back in 1973. The brand began as a family steakhouse focusing on affordable dining. The Golden Corral chain successfully shifted to a buffet-style format in the 1980s and is now the nation’s largest grill-buffet chain, known for its extensive, all-you-can-eat, made-from-scratch food.

There are now more than 350 Golden Corral locations across the United States, with the highest concentration in North Carolina, Florida, and Texas.

“Golden Corral® offers a legendary, endless buffet at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. From our home-style menu favorites to signature sirloin steaks to seasonal promotion specials, there are always new menu items to explore,” the Golden Corral website reads.

“Lunch and dinner include our all-you-can-eat soup and salad bar, signature yeast rolls, and homemade desserts, along with soft-serve ice cream and our famous carrot cake. Our great value for a good price makes Golden Corral a favorite family restaurant among adults and kids alike.

At the helm of the new Golden Corral set to come to the Greater Houston area is franchisee John Gomez of the Gomez Family Enterprises. Gomez is listed as a long-time restaurant operating partner on his LinkedIn, so we suspect this is not the first rodeo for Gomez. What Now Houston reached out to Gomez, but did not hear back by the time of this publication.

The Director of Construction for the brand is Steve Lazenby. What Now Houston also reached out to Lazenby for an update on the construction of the new Baytown Golden Corral, but we did not hear back by the time of this publication.

The brand is known for its home-made good eats. But, just because the recipes are home-made doesn’t mean Golden Corral doesn’t take into account diet plans and health fads.

“Golden Corral’s unmatched variety accommodates most nutrition needs such as low carb, vegan, paleo, and plant-based diet plans,” the website reads.

The new Golden Corral set to open in Baytown is anticipated to open at 4350 East Highway 10 by early 2027.
