Gyro Hut is currently experiencing steady and strategic expansion across the Greater Houston area. The brand is now franchising with a franchisee set to open a location at 3011 W Grand Pkwy, Suite #600, in Katy in early 2026.
“Fueled by strong customer demand and a proven fast-casual Mediterranean concept,” Gyro Hut operating partner, Mehran Khan, shared with What Now Houston.
“The brand’s growth reflects a focus on quality, consistency, and long-term community presence rather than rapid overexpansion.”
The franchisee at the helm of the next Katy location is Shahid Khan.
“Franchisees receive comprehensive training, brand and marketing guidance, established operating systems, and continuous corporate support,” Khan said.
“The relationship is built as a partnership, ensuring franchisees have the tools and resources needed for long-term success.”
While an exact opening date has yet to be announced, Khan shared that they expect to open the new Gyro Hut set to come to Katy in quarter one of 2026.
“We are committed to creating local jobs, delivering fresh and flavorful food, and providing a welcoming environment that customers can rely on,” Khan said.
Gyro Hut’s history dates back to New York around 2008, when founder Victor Waqar brought authentic Mediterranean flavors with fresh ingredients to New Yorkers through a The Gyro Shop food truck. The eatery evolved into a Houston-based brand known for gyros, shawarma, and falafel when he moved to Texas and opened the first Gyro Hut brick-and-mortar in Plano in 2017.
Gyro Hut is also preparing to open two other locations that are also set to open in early 2026, but will be corporate-run locations. You can expect the beloved menu at all eateries.
“The menu will feature Gyro Hut’s signature offerings, including NY-style gyro meat, freshly grilled proteins, crisp vegetables, and house-made sauces,” Khan said.
“Consistency is key across all locations, while the brand continues to evolve with thoughtful menu enhancements based on customer feedback.”
