Hamsa, a modern Israeli cuisine restaurant, will open this spring in the Rice Village Shopping District in Houston.

According to Craigslist, the business is currently looking for servers and bartenders. Applicants need to have a minimum of 2 years’ experience providing superior service as well as knowledge of spirits and wine. Hamsa will have a staff of 35-40 people.

Located at 5555 Morningside Drive, Hamsa is expected to seat around 100 customers. The menu will include hummus with toppings, freshly baked bread, traditional salads, appetizers and entrees among other items. The restaurant was originally slated to open in 2019 but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hamsa will be co-owner Itai Ben Eli’s second local offering. The restaurateur also owns Doris Metropolitan in Houston, a high-end Middle Eastern heritage butchery that “handcrafts modern flavors,” and seeks to “elevate the traditional steakhouse experience.” Ben Eli also owns Doris Metropolitan locations in New Orleans, Louisiana and San José, Costa Rica.

Eli this week was not immediately available to comment when reached by What Now Houston.
