After 14 years of operations, Be More Pacific, a local favorite diner, has said goodbye to the Houston community. The restaurant was well known for its traditional Filipino cuisine, craft beer, and cocktails, all served in a welcoming atmosphere. It permanently closed its Yale Street Suite E, Houston location on March 31.
Longtime Favorite Be More Pacific Closes
Be More Pacific, a Filipino kitchen and bar in Houston’s Heights neighborhood, has closed its doors on Tuesday, March 31, 2026. Owned by Mark Pascual and Giovan Cuchapin, the brick-and-mortar ran successfully for six years in Houston’s dining scene.
Executive Chef Salvador “Buddy” Melgarejo led the kitchen and created a flavorful menu. With his Filipino background, he brought traditional dishes to the restaurant and helped shape the menu.
The menu offered dishes like Kare Kare, Crispy Spam Musubi, Filipino BBQ, and Bacon Fried Rice, paired with craft beers and refreshing cocktails.
Through a social media post, the restaurant team announced the closure of its Yale Street, Houston location. “After 14 unforgettable years, it’s time for us to say salamat and goodbye,” shared the team behind the restaurant.
In 2012, the restaurant started its journey as a food truck, and over time, it built its reputation with its traditional Filipino flavors.

Be More Pacific opened its first brick-and-mortar in Austin in 2017, and in 2020, the restaurant found its home in Houston. The team behind the restaurant added, “Against all odds, our Houston location weathered the pandemic and became our final home.”
The Be More Pacific team has not shared any official reason; however, they stated, “This wasn’t an easy decision, but it’s the right one for our team and our future.”
Fans Share Heartfelt Messages on Social Media
In the closure announcement, the restaurant also extended a note of appreciation and gratitude to the community for its support.
“Thank you for the support, the Kamayan feasts, the celebrations, the halo-halo summers, the karaoke parties, and for letting us share a piece of our culture with you. You helped make Filipino food part of the conversation, and we’re incredibly proud of that,” wrote the team behind the restaurant.
Following the closure announcement, several loyal fans shared heartfelt messages and cherished memories on social media.
One of the fans wrote, “A sad end to a wonderful era of delicious food/drinks and many, many great times altogether. I’m glad we were able to have one more framily dinner, but I hate that it was our last at BMP.”
“We will miss you! Happy to have had BMP to go to during our initial few months in Texas after we moved. It was a place we brought all our guests to. Fond memories to look back upon for sure,” shared another customer.
The closure of Be More Pacific in Houston marks the end of an era. Even though the restaurant is closed, loyal fans will continue to remember it for a long time.
