Long John Silver’s is embarking on opening a new eatery in Harris County. According to a recently filed permit, a newly constructed Long John Silver’s will open at 9950 FM 1960 in Humble.

The permit also details that construction is slated to start at the end of this month and wrap up by the end of September. The $1.2 million project will result in a new 2,247 square-foot Long John Silver’s quick-service restaurant.

An official opening date has yet to be announced.

What Now Houston reached out to Corey Jenkins, who was listed on the permit, and shared that he is the project manager, but was unable to divulge any further details.

What Now Houston also reached out to Long John Silver’s VP of Operations, Craig Curit, but did not hear back by the time of this publication.

Long John Silver’s was founded in Lexington, Kentucky, in 1969 by Jerrico Inc. restaurateur Warren Rosenthal. Inspired by Treasure Island, the chain grew rapidly in the ’70s and ’80s, overcame bankruptcy in the late ’90s, and was bought by Yum! Brands before becoming an independent entity again in 2011.

There are now nearly 500 Long John Silver’s locations across the country, with Texas holding the highest concentration of 71 locations. According to Long John Silver’s website, there are just three locations in the Greater Houston area.

“We treat every moment as an opportunity to celebrate the food we love the most from the place we love most – the sea,” the Long John Silver’s website reads.

“We have always believed that our unique seafood experience should be accessible to all. But our love of the sea goes so much deeper. We work to serve our oceans as faithfully as we serve our customers because we believe whenever you can make waves, you have to.”

Long John Silver’s is all about the seafood, offering a variety of dishes including crispy clam stripscrab cakes, and hand-battered codsalmonshrimp, and Alaska pollock.

Construction on the new Long John Silver’s at 9950 FM 1960 in Humble is expected to wrap in September, so we anticipate a fall opening.
