What Now Houston has learned through public documents that a new Dunkin’ will soon open in Katy. The world famous coffee and donut chain’s newest location will be at the corner of Hwy 99 and Clay Rd. The building will be a free-standing location with 2,045 sq ft of space. An official opening date has not been released yet.
Even though the restaurant hasn’t opened, it has changed ownership. Andrew Miller, COO at Garza Management— the location’s previous owner— confirmed to What Now Houston that his company has chosen to step away from the project. What Now Houston reached out to Inspire Brands, Dunkin’s parent company, for more information. No response was given as of press time.
Dunkin’, formerly known as Dunkin’ Donuts, is one of the world’s largest coffee and donut chains with over 12,000 locations internationally. The brand was founded as a donut chain in 1950 in Quincy Massachusetts. In 2019, the chain officially dropped “Donuts” from its name as they changed direction to focus more on beverages. The company said at the time “…beverages, especially coffee, make up 60% of the company’s US sales.” Inspire Brands bought the company in 2020.
